12th SONEVA Nature Trip, ECOCARE MALDIVES at it again!!

On WED 2010 (World Environment day, 5th June), Team ECOCARE sets off on its 12th nature trip with almost a 100 of primary school students (from different Male' Schools) who will latter be joined by students from Baa atoll where they share, gain and experience. This is the 12th such Nature trip that the Maldives based NGO is co-ordinating.

From the year 2000, ECOCARE Maldives has been organizing an on going environmental awareness program aimed to create awareness among Male' and Baa Atoll school children. School children from Male' and the islands in Baa atoll work as colleagues to study the environmental issues such as mangrove ecosystem, coral reefs. beach erosion, biodiversity, natural vegetation, waste, etc in the atoll. Soneva Fushi Island resort in Baa atoll is the prime sponsor of this environment initiative.The Nature trip has received international Awards of recognition as well as national awards.

The nature trip program includes a 6 day adventure package with interactions with natures beauty and awesomeness. Participants get to witness the state of environment, learn about its threats and vulnerability. Students are able to enjoy and admire what nature has to offer.

ECOCARE has successfully completed 11 nature tips so far and it is certain that every participant who took part in those programs came out to become ECOCARE's ambassadors for environment protection, this indeed is the true achievement of the NGO. Hundreds of students, future leaders had taken part in the Nature trip and they surely have the ECOCARE spirit in them to protect and sustain environment in Maldives.
