My sincere greetings and best wishes to all my fellow countrymen on the very happy occasion of Independence Day.
Famous among us Maldivians"Julyin Sahbees" (26th of July) is here again. The much celebrated "Minivan Dhuvas" (Independence day) use to come in flying colors, with much excitement and continued celebration and grand festivity in the archipelago. School kids impatiently wait for their dance item while the ever so creative festive floats make crowds cheer on the streets of Male', it was a happy occasion indeed. Something that has died along with many other traditions, with the "emergence" of recent "political outburst" (rather disturbance). Well can't say Geoffrey Chaucer was wrong; 'All good things must come to an end'.
