My thoughts ... SAM training team 2010

In my opinion The Scout Association of Maldives need to work hard in producing QUALITY scout leaders in Maldives, not just the Quantity....
Though some members in the training team had regarded the training programs such as Wood badge courses in some countries like Srilanka and India NOT VERY GOOD!!! HOWEVER I must say that the leaders quality in those country are far much better than in the Maldives. Its not just criticizing there methods and schemes that the training team members of Maldives should do but to learn from them!!!
I took part in the Basic Unit leaders Training Course that was held in 2009, However I was really disappointed that the course DID NOT COVER the Progressive Schemes for scouts or Cubs ... Leaders that came trained out of the course are not able to provide scouts with guidance to complete their scout progressive schemes...
There is a ROVER SECTION in Maldives but are there any trained ROVER ADVISORS in Maldives???

I still believe the Scheme followed in Maldives (which is the only written document, which is also a DRAFT which seems to be made in 1998) IS NOT followed today, or as a matter had not been followed anytime ...
If you take a look at the above link and download the Training Scheme (which I took from http://www.scoutsofmaldives.com ) You will be able to see a well made trainig scheme for leaders of Cubs, Scouts and Service/Rover scout Leaders ... You will also find Basic courses for Commissioner and Advance courses for Commissioners ... Has there been any such training Course for commissioners?? Are the commissioners in Maldives well trained?? (please note that in "NOT VERY GOOD" countries ... they train there commissioners)
It is important to review the Training Scheme and LEARN FROM THE NEIGHBOR COUNTRIES!!! See how they had been successful in training an elite force of Scout leaders who are leading the movement in those countries ...
On 7th May 2010 - The Scout Association of Maldives had inaugurated its official National Training team 2010 in a ceremony held in Jamaluddhin School. The members of the Training team renewed their promise and also signed an agreement for one year with The Scout Association of Maldives. The Chief commissioner Mr. Mohamed Nazeef attended this ceremony.

Hope the new team will be able to bring important changes to the training system/scheme/policy in the country... And i would like to request form all the members of the team NOT TO DEGRADE the standards of neighborly countries like Srilanka and India !!!
I also hope that the Training team will publish a list of the areas each trainer will be working ... Its sad that inactive leaders are also included in the team ... However I believe their names will only appear on the list if they had expressed there willingness (hope this is true) to give time and effort to the team...
well those are my thoughts ... Congratulation to all the members of the team and wish them all the best ... lets try to Create a Better Scouting Community in Maldives.
